Northwest Vikings hire Manny Bloom as the head basketball coach. Bloom is going into his seventh season as a Head Varsity Basketball Coach. He spent the past six years as the Head Coach at Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton, Florida. 

After spending two years under Head Coach Jim Howell (currently John I. Leonard H.S.), Bloom took over a young team, at the age of 23, that was starting from scratch. With more downs then ups in his first season at the helm the Bobcats finished 6-15 and tied for last in the District. After his first entire off-season with the team and a lot of character building, an even more inexperienced Bobcat team went 14-13 and earned a #2 seed in the District tournament before being knocked out by Booker T. Washington (Miami). In his Third Season and a program that he could finally call his own, the Bobcats exploded onto the scene starting the season 9-0 and ranked as high as 3rd in the State. Although the season ended with a tough loss in Districts at the buzzer the Bobcats finished with a strong record of 18-8. 2005 saw the Bobcats win their first District Title in School History after upsetting #1 Santaluces(21-3) in the District Semifinals, then lose to final four team Palm Beach Lakes on the road. In his fifth year, Bloom felt the program was continuing in the right direction and although the Bobcats were young, he felt they made some noise in the 6A Class.

In his final season at Boca High, the team achieved a record of 19-9. The Bobcats were undefeated Conference Champions, District Runners-up and made a state playoff appearence. The team had 4 seniors sign basketball scholarships (three to Division 1 schools). All five starters averaged double figures in scoring. The team's only home loss was to the nationally ranked prep-school, American Christian, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Coach Bloom has been married to his wife, Elizabeth, for four years now. They have a 19 month old son, Xachary, and are expecting thier second child, Emily, to be born on May 23rd.
